LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: Easy SIZE: 0-3 Months MEASUREMENTS: 4 inches L x 3 inches W MATERIALS: -15g medium-weight Dark Gray Red Heart yarn (Shade 00119) -10m medium-weight White Red Heart yarn (Shade 00001) -3.75mm Crochet Hook (F/5 or sizes needed to obtain gauge) Gauge: 9 dc = 2 in.; 5 rows = 2 in. STITCHES & ABBREVIATIONS USED: Chain – ch Double crochet – dc Puff stitch – ps (Work 5 dc in 1 stitch.) Single crochet – sc Slip stitch – sl st NOTES: -All rnds start in same stitch as the chain stitches in beginning of round unless otherwise stated. -Ch 1 or ch 3 sts in the beginning of rnd/row count as 1 st. -The numbers in Italics at the end of each row or rnd are the total number of stitches in that row or rnd. These numbers are there just to check your work. DIRECTIONS Using dark gray yarn, ch 12. Rnd 1: Dc in third ch from hook and in next 9 sts. Work on the other side; dc in next 10 sts. Join with sl st. – 20 dc Rnd 2: Ch 3 + dc in first st, dc in next 8 sts, 2 dc in each of next 2 sts, dc in next 8 sts, 2 dc in last st. Join with sl st. – 24 dc Rnd 3: Ch 3 + dc in first st, dc in next 9 sts, 2 dc in each of next 2 sts, dc in next 9 sts, 2 dc in last st. Join with sl st. – 28 dc Rnds 4-7: Ch 3, dc around. Join with sl st. – 28 dc in each rnd After the 7th rnd, fasten off. Fold the mitten. Using white yarn, join in stitch along a fold. Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc around. Join with sl st. – 28 sts Row 9: Ch 3, dc in next st, * ps, dc in next 2 sts, rep * around. End with dc in last st. Do not join. – 28 sts Row 10: Ch 1 +sc in first st, ch 1, sk 1 st, * sc in next st, ch 1, sk 1 st, rep * around. Sc in last st. – 29 sts Make 2 strings using white yarn. Ch 60 for each string. Fasten off and weave ends. Insert each string to the last row of each mitten.
